Ciara Heatherman graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Art Education from Ithaca College in 2010. She has been teaching and creating visual art in public schools in Upstate NY and Northeast Pennsylvania since 2011. Currently, she lives in Pennsylvania where she paints, cares for her daughter, and teaches art.
Ciara works in a variety of mediums but is primarily focused on honing her skills in oil painting. Her paintings are representational, with expressive visible brush strokes. Ciara is deeply inspired by the symbolic implications of her subjects, often inspired by her surroundings. She has had her work shown in the Roberson Museum of Art, the Broome County Artisan Gallery, the Pelham Center for the Arts, and the Cooperative Gallery. She will have her first solo exhibition of paintings inspired by nature in her backyard this November at the Tioga Arts Council in Owego, NY.
