A.B.F.M. Magazine 6th Annual Online Halloween Group Exhibition! October 01-October 31, 2025
I took strong inspiration from the Little Red Riding Hood story with my own twist. First, the art style. I tried to draw it childlike, like the ones that you see in horror films when a child is trying to convey to his/her parents that something is wrong and they don’t know how to express it. In this piece, a child walks out of the house. Metaphorically, the crossed-out Shhh! words and the big Blah! words represent first that the child is not listening to her parents' warning: Don’t talk to strangers. But at the same time, the more she is told not to speak, the more she does when she encounters the stranger! As a result, as you can see in the pictures, it does not have a happy ending! Life lesson learned? Don’t talk to strangers! Especially not in public spaces.
Jorge Bolano is from Brooklyn, NY, and currently residing in the Bronx. He has a technical degree in Computer Technology Track. Jorge has been drawing, painting, and trying different mediums on and off throughout his life. His biggest inspiration for the love of art came from watching his mother work with all sorts of art mediums. Back in 2024, Jorge tried submitting an art piece called “Understanding Through Baking” for an in-person gallery event called Art is Life. It’s an event for people who work for the city of New York to have a chance to showcase their art based on different themes. To his surprise, it was accepted, giving him the motivation and more confidence in himself to create other works and submit them to other opportunities. Jorge hopes to one day be among the top artists.
This is Jorge's first time exhibiting at the A.B.F.M. Magazine® Online Halloween Group Exhibition, and he is featured in our artist directory on the website.
